11.11.2024Jordi Bascompte participated in the 20th Anniversary of the Margalef Prize

The event, which took place in Barcelona on the 10th of Octobre, consisted in short talks by Marten Scheffer, Gretchen Daily, Josep Peñuelas and Jordi, all of them previous Awardees of the Margalef Prize, followed by a general discussion. This award, given by Catalonian’s Regional Government, was created in 2004 to commemorate Margalef's legacy. One of the most influential ecologists of the 20th Century, Margalef is particularly well-known for having introduced information theory in ecology and for advocating a view of ecosystems based on a few basic general principles derived from physics, particularly thermodynamics.
