The University of Zurich has four representative bodies that ensure the voices and interests of all its members are heard and considered in decision-making processes. These bodies represent various groups within the university, offering support and advocating for their specific needs.
Students: Students are represented by the Student Association (VSUZH). This body advocates for student interests in academic and administrative matters, ensuring that the student perspective is included in university policies and developments.
Junior Researchers: The Association of Academic Mid-Level Staff (VAUZ) represents doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and other junior academic staff. VAUZ plays a critical role in defending the rights and interests of early-career researchers, from employment conditions to research opportunities.
Senior Researchers and Teaching Staff: Senior academic staff, including research associates and TP are represented by the Association of Senior Researchers and Teaching Staff (VFFL). The VFFL advocates for the university and educational policy interests of the senior researchers and teaching staff within and outside the UZH, particularly focusing on participation, co-determination, and influence in teaching and research.
Administrative and Technical Staff: The administrative and technical staff, essential for the university's day-to-day operations, have their own representative body. Their group is represented by the Association of the Administrative and Technical Staff (V-ATP) and advocates for fair working conditions, career development opportunities, and workplace issues.
