PhD‑Level Funding Opportunities
The following opportunities enable you to fully or partially finance your doctoral research at UZH. This overview is not exhaustive. Be sure to inquire about specific funding opportunities in your department or faculty.
UZH Candoc Grant
- Through funding from the UZH Candoc Grants, the University of Zurich supports its early career researchers at the doctoral level. UZH Candoc Grant funding goes toward promising early career researcher who would like to work on an excellent PhD thesis at the University of Zurich. Primarily salary funds are granted to provide researchers with protected research time for their project.
UZH Doc.Mobility
- Grants enabling PhD researchers to conduct 6–12 month stays abroad for networking and research exposure.
- Covers travel, subsistence; eligibility includes both UZH‑employed and project‑based PhD

SNSF Mobility Grants for PhD Researchers
- Mobility grants are aimed at doctoral students who wish to improve their scientific profile by going abroad while being employed in an ongoing SNSF research project. During the period spent abroad, the grantee will remain matriculated at the Swiss home institution and employed as a doctoral student in the SNSF-funded research project.
