Breakdown - no injury or damage to 3rd party life / property

If breakdown is due to mechanical malfunction, and there are no other people, vehicles or damage to property involved, follow these steps in order given:

  • have all the necessary information ready before you call us at IEU or Service Center Irchel,
  • call us at IEU:
    • Michel Nakano, T +41 44 635 4845 (office hours: 8:30 - 17:30h, Monday - Friday)
    • Susanne Bischof, T +41 44 635 4767 (office hours: 8:00 - 17:00h, Monday noon - Thursday noon)
  • after office hours, contact the road help from TCS Schweiz (phone 0800 140 140 in Switzerland - see yellow copy in plastic document holder).

The large, grey box in the trunk contains reflective vests (one per person) and a first aid kit. Details about where in the vehicle what has to be stowed varies from country to country. Avoid possible fines and troubles by reading about it before you set off.

Accident - no injuries or damage to third party life / property

If you had an accident where only your vehicle was damaged, follow these steps in order given:

  • document the accident, use your mobile phone's camera!
  • be prepared, have all the necessary information ready before you call us at IEU. Phone +41 44 635 4845:

    • Susanne Bischof, T +41 44 635 4767 (office hours: 8:00 - 17:00h, Monday noon - Thursday noon)
  • after office hours, contact the road help from TCS Schweiz (phone 0800 140 140 in Switzerland - see yellow copy in plastic document holder),
  • as soon as possible, submit a detailed, written report to IEU with pictures of damage to vehicle, etc.,
  • you are personally required to fill out an insurance claims form at your earliest convenience at our office (Y25-G-66B).

Possible injury to people and/or damage to vehicles or third party property

If you had an accident where people (incl. yourself) got hurt, your vehicle or third party property was damaged, follow these steps in order given:

  • you must call the police (phone 117 in Switzerland),
  • if possible, document the accident, use your mobile phone's camera,
  • do not accept any claims or demands by others,
  • as soon as possible, submit a detailed, written report to IEU with pictures of damage to vehicle, property, etc.,
  • you are personally required to fill out an insurance claims form at your earliest convenience at our office (Y25-G-66B).

Beware, the University reserves the right for regress in case of gross negligence!
